Essex County Greenbelt Association

The Essex County Greenbelt Association (Greenbelt) is the largest land conservator in Essex County and has protected over 14,000 acres through partnerships with local communities and land owners. Coinciding with the Greenbelt’s 50^th anniversary, the organization engaged iMarc to enhance its online presence, elevate its brand, and encourage membership and visitations.

Greenbelt is a member supported land trust, and the site needed to engage and excite users about its mission.  The new website lets visitors browse Greenbelt properties, projects and events, all managed through iMarc's custom-built content management system (CMS). iMarc developed a unique feature for the site – an interactive map that lets users explore Greenbelt’s properties and find specific activities of interest. The map is driven by content from the CMS and Google’s mapping APIs.

Users can become members, donate online, and sign up to monitor properties directly on the new site. Visitors can also check into properties via location-based social media tools such as Foursquare and Gowalla. Beyond its interactivity and functionality, the new Greenbelt site captures the natural beauty of the land Greenbelt conserves.
