Button styles

Recently, while we were testing a new site, I noticed an enhancement filed in our issue-tracking system, suggesting that a form's buttons be styled to match the site's color scheme.

I take it you have never tried to style form elements consistently across browsers and maintain functionality, eh? Nothing is worse than having half of your form elements styles to match the site and other half not because it is impossible. Because of this it is my rule of thumb to never do anything other than adjust the width of text inputs and text areas.

You can get away with a little more if all you have is a search box and a go button, but then you are going to introduce inconsistencies if you have anything more advanced than that somewhere else on the site.

@Will: You may have misread; it wasn't my enhancement request. I vastly prefer unstyled form objects that match the OS look and feel. (Or in the case of FireFox, the lowest common denominator Look & Feel that Mozilla created. It's ugly, but at least it's consistent.)

I think the poll daddy form needs some more styling.
