These Things Happen, Volume I

Although we always blog about the funny things, the good things, the exciting things and the amazing things, we sometimes forget that life isn’t perfect, and that sometimes unfortunate things happen. Obviously enough, these things also happen at iMarc. You can’t quite call these bloopers, but they’re the little mishaps that can sometimes put the things you take for granted into perspective.
So I’m starting a new series of the little things that happen around the office that you don’t always hear about.
Volume I: The Internet is Down
We tend to work on tight schedules, which requires us to work quickly and efficiently. However every now and then something gets in the way, like when the Internet goes down. This can happen because of a power-outage, or sometimes the ISP is just having issues. The question is, what happens at iMarc when the Internet goes down?There is a great deal of frustration. I remember a couple years ago we cleaned the windows during a power-outage to pass the time.
Of course, once you start cleaning windows, you have to do them all, so the work continued even after the lights came back on.
And then there was a couple weeks ago when the whole network went down for an hour or so. A lot of us were quickly approaching deadlines and trying to cram in as much as we can when we get to work and the Internet just isn’t there.
Sometimes there’s nothing you can say that conveys the frustration. And other times, you come back to your screen to see a “manual instant message” from Patrick post-it-noted to your monitor.
