Creating a ridiculous tsunami in 8ish steps....

So what's better than being stuck on an island with 1,000 bikini-clad women, drinking martinis and soaking your unbelievably chiseled features with sunshine? Photoshop!

So recently a client of ours wanted some natural disaster imagery made for their site. We decided that some things are better displayed through overdramatization. Thus, we constructed our "tsunami scene" using 3 seperate photo components.

So here are our original photos:

coastline:

wave:

clouds:

Ok, so now we have our components....let's go through a simple 8-step process for creating our scene!

Annnnnd we're done! Kinda....Now obviously we could have taken this further by creating a crazier tide in front of the wave, or maybe adding some nutty winds and a cow flying by- but we'll save that for my next blog entry.

Until then, out!

Craig

I think the only thing cooler would be a surfer riding the tsunami.

As Larry Niven wrote, "Okay, I didn't actually see the surfer hit the building."

Just to highlight a point (something that was mentioned but might have been missed), this is work done for a client, more specifically a museum's study of natural disasters.

Also, just because a natural disaster actually strikes doesn't mean everything involving said disaster from that point forward is off limits and/or a 'jab' at victims of an emergency.

These disasters happen, and there is nothing anyone can do to stop them.

Uhh... go Craig!

Impressively done. I have Photoshop, but zero art skill, so watching that kind of thing come together is just stunning.

Craig's original tsunami can be found here. It's the intro graphic to Springfield Museum's new exhibit on natural disasters.

He also made a sick volcano for their home page.

To JP (Jan 27): You meant to create a plural but the appostrophe you inserted makes it a possessive instead.

Why can't there be a tsunami and a storm happening at the same time? It's very plausible.

Nice challenging kind of feel to it. The perfect adventure, but looks a bit too much the perfect adventure to seem real

Hey. I really like the work, and I doubt I could do better, but the artwork is no longer featured Springfield Museum's page. Or, I just can't find it.
