I LOLed

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 – My gang, they crack me up. Nick made the call to spring everyone early today, and so in theory we are closed right now and everyone is long gone. So I just went for a stroll and of course NOT ONE of them has departed. Liberal application of the verbal cattle prod got them moving, but that is indeed what it took. Happy Thanksgiving, iMarcians and friends. Hope it s a great holiday for you all.

RIP Steve Jobs, and thanks

Thursday, October 6, 2011 – It's not a stretch for me to say that the Apple Macintosh computer directly led me to starting this company with Israel Alvarez 14 years ago, and changed my life for the better. So the world seems a little diminished with the passing of Steve Jobs yesterday. My great friend Toby was the catalyst, being one of those rare friends whose advice I can take without having to parse or otherwise filter it first. In 1989 Toby was working at Apple and had seen…

iMarc named to the 2011 Inc. 5000! Again!

Monday, September 19, 2011 – We are very excited to announce that for the third time in four years, iMarc was just recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the 5000 fastest-growing private businesses in the United States! This is as always a reflection of our great team and the loyalty of our wonderful clients, many of whom have been with iMarc for 10 years or more. We're sneaking up on the 14th anniversary of our inception, and it feels great! Here's our press release:

The highs, the lows, and the in-betweens

Thursday, March 17, 2011 – Working in close quarters as we do here, we're usually pretty well in touch with the collective mood, and we've experienced them all recently, in the span of one short week. Last night was a bittersweet event, when we all went out to send off our friend and close colleague Craig Ruksznis, who leaves tomorrow for new life and professional adventures in Utah. "Ruks" came to us fresh from college, the proverbial "Little Green Sprout", and in…

iMarc welcomes Katie Desmond to the team

Wednesday, February 17, 2010 – I'm excited to welcome our newest team member, Katie Desmond. Katie's title is Business Development Specialist, and in iMarc-speak, this means that she will help us with marketing and business development, web strategy, project planning, and more. Katie brings some tremendous skills and experience to her role, having produced many web projects over a 10-year-plus span, at Boston's Mullen Advertising, The Timberland Company, of…

How to: Develop an Effective Web Development RFP

Thursday, January 15, 2009 – It's a sign of the times I guess, that more than ever, folks are exercising their 'due diligence' in their business deals, making sure that nothing is overlooked in the quest for value and efficiency. We are doing that ourselves, and it's one of the positive outcomes of this economic environment. We're all going to work harder and be more efficient, or we might not survive. It's the Law of the Jungle, come to the business world. Adapt or perish... So I was…

iMarc Thanksgiving

Thursday, December 4, 2008 – It is by now well known that I am prone to sentimentality. As the great philosopher Popeye frequently said, "I yam who I yam". Or something :-). Anyway, today is the day of our by-now traditional holiday party, and I hope you're coming. This year the party feels a little more poignant to me... Our holiday party is by tradition held on the first Thursday of December, just a week after Thanksgiving this year, and more or less a month after the…

Pre-holiday hijinks

Wednesday, October 22, 2008 – We're planning our 11th annual holiday party right now and so there are a few activities going on related to that. Creative Director Craig Henry and Co have come up with a funny theme and we just sent out a date grab email previewing it to our customers and friends... One of our most senior and trusted (and nameless) staffers drew the duty of sending out the email this morning and there was a small yet hilarious glitch that sparked some…

ca·coph·o·ny

Monday, July 28, 2008 – What do Cole Porter and Social Distortion have in common? At this very moment? I am listening to them both simultaneously from dueling stages just outside my office window. In all seriousness, it's a small price to pay for our awesome location and offices, but it is festival season here in Newburyport, and Yankee Homecoming, the granddaddy of them all is going on this week. 25 yards in one direction a trio of four 50-somethings (that's their…

Clank

Friday, July 25, 2008 – That's the sound I imagine my framed "Partners" print made as it fell off the wall, bounced off the top of my fish tank, and hit the floor. We have zealous and energetic cleaning folk that come through here on weekends, making our offices clean and tidy, and one of their points of pride apparently is to dust the top of every framed thing on the walls, and leave them just a teeny bit cockeyed. It's just another assurance for us that they are doing a great job,…
