A crop of new sites for summer

Memorial Day is a big weekend in the US — both a day to honor those who have served and died in military service to the country, and the unofficial kickoff of summer.

For us, it's also a short break at the end of a very, very busy spring…

Steamship Authority mobile site on iPhone. iPhone image CC-BA-SA, see http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Iphone_4G-2.jpgJust launched on Thursday, a new mobile site for the Steamship Authority. If you are headed to or from Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket this weekend, you'll want to bookmark it for your iPhone or Android. It has up-to-the-minute ferry status & alerts, schedules and parking information, optimized for your smartphone. Boston.com picked up on the launch too, helping to get the word out to travellers.

MassGrowth.net, the website for the Massachusetts Foundation for Growth, shines a light on the need for sustainable housing growth in the Commonwealth. By 2020, the state will be short 29,000 homes — limiting economic growth. The Foundation advocates for smart growth and provides lots of useful information on this new site. Go learn more.

On the fun side of life, Ciclismo Classico puts together amazing bicycle tours abroad. Originally specializing in Italy, they also have trips to Norway, Vietnam, New Zealand, Greece, South America and more. Hit their redesigned site to find your dream trip.

Petwatch.net iPhone screenshotLast week we launched Petwatch by EcoHealth Alliance, simultaneously with their “Pet Fête” gala launch event! Petwatch provides science-based information and recommendations for exotic pets. It's a fantastic partnership with Brown University. It's also a fantastic website, using responsive design techniques to look and work as great on an Android or iPhone as it does on the desktop.

I'm also glad to note the launch last week of the new site for the Montana Society of CPAs. I had the pleasure of working with them in person in Helena as we planned out the new site, and their new site rocks. I particularly like their new Find a CPA feature; members have already been adding their public profiles and uploading profile photos. It's a great way to find a CPA in the state! It also makes life easier for administrators; it's tightly integrated with their AM.NET association management system. Thanks to this, it's both easy to sign up for professional development courses and for the Society to manage and process registrations!

(And that's not our last CPA Society website for a Western state… another one is coming soon!)

We've got a lot more in the hopper, and you'll see another crop of sites launch this summer. We owe it all to our fantastic clients, who trust us to do such great work for them. We're lucky to work with such great people. Thank you!

  • Scrolling, clicking, and the fold

jay commented: Yeah ,,people will scroll up and down no matter what, now a days a lot of sites have horizontal scroll ..Personally i think scrolling is better than clicking..no time to waste lookin for the link and then clicking..scrolling offers all in one go.
