Students Get On CPATrack.com with iMarc

Boston, Massachusetts - The Massachusetts Society of CPAs (MSCPA), in partnership with iMarc, a web strategy and development firm specializing in interactive web sites, is launching a new public awareness initiative for the CPA profession through its web site, CPAtrack.com. The campaign targets both high school and college students and provides an excellent place for students to explore accounting education and career opportunities.

"CPATrack.com will increase awareness and perception of the CPA profession among students and encourage enrollment in accountancy programs," comments Barbara Iannoni, MSCPA Academic and Career Development Coordinator.

The Web site features information to assist students in their career decision-making by providing valuable resources, such as:
· Information on scholarships and internships;
· A list of colleges in Massachusetts that have accounting programs;
· CPA exam requirements; and
· A forum to ask questions and express opinions to students, educators, and CPAs.

"CPATrack.com provides the resources accounting students need to advance in their careers in Massachusetts," says Ianonni. The highlight of the site is a page featuring 'cool' CPAs, including a FBI agent, a pilot and a sportrider. These 'cool' CPAs share their thoughts on why they chose to become a CPA, and how their career decision has fit their lifestyle.

Students were involved in the development of the site. "I looked at your site and I think it is a great idea. Students can go straight to a regional site geared to them," commented one of the local students involved in the development of CPATrack.com. Many of the students surveyed said that they would recommend the site to their friends with similar career interests.

Students are not the only ones that benefit from CPATrack.com. Public accounting firms, non - profit organizations and private companies have the opportunity to post accounting internship opportunities to the site for free, and MSCPA members will have access to students' resumes that are posted through the site. Accounting educators will also find helpful resources.

The Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, Inc. is the state professional association of certified public accountants, representing over 8,500 members in public accounting practice, industry and business, government and education. The Society works to develop and maintain high professional standards and offers a wide array of legislative, technical and referral services to its members.
